Travis George
Operations
Lt. Travis George (retired) is a member of Creative Planning’s Practice Development team, helping extend the firm’s services into specialized industries and other trusted networks where clients have distinctive needs, such as aviation, law enforcement, dentistry, professional sports and entrepreneurship. Lt George also leads a team of Operation’s Specialist responsible for the onboarding of new client’s, and the daily care and maintenance needs of existing clients. With additional efforts in various public speaking forums, he delivers financial wellness education, and works with government employers on retirement plan improvements.
Drawing on nearly three decades of law enforcement experience, Travis proudly supports Creative Planning’s law enforcement and first responder specialty practice. Prior to Joining Creative Planning, Travis retired from the Belton Police Department as division commander after 23 years of service. In that role, he led a large and multidisciplined team, including uniformed patrol, traffic and criminal investigation divisions, and served as the department crisis intervention team liaison, a Belton Cares board member, a homeless outreach coordinator and a training and development coordinator. Travis also served as an airport police officer with the Kansas City Aviation Department and as a full-time school resource officer in the Blue Valley Unified School District.
Travis earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Missouri and his Master of Arts degree from Lincoln University. Prior, he graduated from both the Kansas City Regional Police Academy and the Missouri Police Chiefs’ Command College. Travis holds several instructor designations obtained both during and after his career in law enforcement.
Travis and his wife, Angie, share six children ranging in age from pre-teen to adult. When not working, Travis has enjoyed coaching middle school football, high school baseball and high school wrestling.
