As an organization, Creative Planning works with some of the most successful and aspiring families, businesses and institutions. For the last 20 years, our giving has been focused on those among us that need support while they work through tough times, or that simply need assistance to have a shot at success.

This commitment builds on the historical focus of Creative Planning and its leadership team on outreach to causes that serve disenfranchised communities. These efforts include opening a financial education center, Pathway Financial Education, in the spring of 2021 in the historic 18th & Vine area of Kansas City, MO. The center offers free classes to small business owners, adults and youth and many of Creative Planning’s employees teach courses in financial planning, tax services, law, business management and more.

Providing full-tuition scholarships and mentors – many of whom are Creative Planning employees – to underprivileged students, building a basic needs distribution center, purchasing and delivering over 7,000 meals for those in need on Thanksgiving (for over a decade), funding the reopening of a facility that supports the homeless as they re-enter the workforce, and providing 30 million meals to those that rely on the school system for food. Together, we must ask ourselves how we can change and improve our existing system to stop the cycle of inequity that disproportionately affects these communities.

At Creative Planning, we are committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. Every year, we give several hundred thousand dollars to charities across the country. Our support initiatives have included programs for children and adults with disabilities, literacy programs, community gardens, faith-based programs, arts programs and many more. Every year we support hundreds of organizations with grants. To request a grant for a non-profit please click here.

We are committed to supporting worthwhile causes across the country, particularly those that are close to our clients’ hearts and that help contribute towards a better life for those most in need.

Our largest gifts have been made to the following organizations:

Pathway Financial Education was born after recognizing an unmet need in under-resourced communities: convenient access to comprehensive financial education and training. Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Pathway is a 501(c)3 organization which offers in-person and online financial education tailored to the needs of small business owners and individuals.

Feeding America is the recipient of our largest grant. We contributed $10 million to:

  • Build food pantries in communities that were underserved. Prior to our donation, people needed to take a bus to another city to get to a food pantry.
  • Provide food to students that rely on the public school system for meals.
  • Provide 25 million meals to those in need in Kansas City, home to our headquarters.
  • Provide over 35 million meals to those in need in underserved cities throughout America.

We contributed $8 million to Operation Underground Railroad, which is working to eradicate child sex trafficking and thus far has rescued 4,100 victims and assisted in the arrests of over 3,200 traffickers.
