Zach Thies, CPA, PFS, CFP®
Zach serves as a Private Wealth Manager, working directly with his clients to create and maintain a customized financial plan addressing all aspects of a healthy financial life, including investments, tax planning, risk management, retirement, employee benefits and estate planning.
With more than 15 years of experience advising clients on their finances, Zach offers his clients a truly comprehensive planning experience. Prior to joining Creative Planning, Zach was a trust tax officer at a private trust company, where he served high-net-worth individuals and families.
Zach earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting from the University of South Dakota. He’s a Certified Public Accountant, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional (as designated by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards) and a Personal Financial Specialist (as designated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, or AICPA).
Zach is a member of the AICPA – Personal Financial Planning Section. The AICPA awarded Zach its Personal Financial Planning Standing Ovation award at the 2019 AICPA ENGAGE conference and its P. Thomas Austin Personal Financial Planning Scholarship in 2020 for his contributions to the field. In 2015, Zach received the Thomson Reuters “Excellence in Tax Research” Taxologist Award.
Zach and his wife, Rachel, have two children: Quinten and Bennett. In his spare time, Zach enjoys golfing, running, spending time with family and friends, and attending his children’s sporting activities.
