Michael Rarey
Managing Director
Michael serves as an Institutional Advisor at Creative Planning. In this role, he manages assets for institutions, primarily nonprofit organizations and corporations. Michael works directly with clients on the oversight of their endowments, foundations, reserves and operating accounts. Michael has been serving institutional clients for more than 15 years.
Prior to joining Creative Planning, Michael was a Principal and the Chief Investment Officer at an independent investment advisory firm. There, he oversaw the firm’s investment research and portfolio management and co-headed the Investment Committee. He also led development of the firm’s investment framework, which informed all asset allocation decisions across client portfolios.
Michael received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance and accounting from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where he graduated with honors. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, as awarded by the CFA Institute, and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst℠ designation, as awarded by the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association.
Michael is married with two children and resides in suburban Chicago. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys being a dad, golfing and reading.
