Mark Johannessen, CFP®, AIF®

Mark Johannessen is a Partner and serves as a Private Wealth Manager working directly with his clients to create and maintain a customized financial plan addressing all aspects of a healthy financial life including investments, tax planning, risk management, retirement, employee benefits and estate planning.

Mark brings to his clients more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Creative Planning, Mark was a founding employee of a large independent advisory firm where he advised individuals, businesses and associations on a variety of financial planning matters. After the September 11, 2001 tragedy, Mark initiated the design and implementation of Financial Planning Association’s (FPA) pro-bono financial planning relief effort for victims’ families. The FPA National Capital Chapter named Mark, “Financial Planner of the Year” in 2005, and in 2010, Mark was honored with the Financial Planning Association – National Capital Area’s Norma Severns Leadership Award.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Utah. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional as designated by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. He is also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® as designated by Fi360. Mark is a member of the CFP Board’s Center for Financial Planning Campaign Development Committee, and he has previously served on the Board of Directors of the national Financial Planning Association.

Mark has been a leader and member of several local organizations, including the Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County, MD, St. Elizabeth Catholic School, Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center, and the Gonzaga College High School Fathers’ Club. Mark resides in Rockville, MD with his wife Mindy and sons – Patrick and Chris.
