Mark Johannessen, CFP®, AIF®

Wealth Manager, Partner

Mark serves as a Partner and Private Wealth Manager, working directly with his clients to create and maintain a customized financial plan addressing all aspects of a healthy financial life, including investments, tax planning, risk management, retirement, employee benefits and estate planning.

With more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry, Mark has developed an in-depth knowledge of providing clients with comprehensive wealth management. Prior to joining Creative Planning, he was a founding employee of a large independent advisory firm, where he advised individuals, businesses and associations on a variety of financial planning matters.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and political science from the University of Utah. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER<sup>®</sup> professional, as designated by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary<sup>®</sup>, as designated by Fi360. A long-time advocate for and supporter of pro-bono financial planning, Mark received the Heart of Financial Planning Award from the Financial Planning Association (FPA) in 2024.<sup>1</sup><sup></sup>

Mark and his family live in Rockville, Maryland. He has been a leader and member of several organizations, including the Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County, Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center and the Gonzaga Fathers Club. He currently serves as a member of the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning’s Advisory Committee and Development Committee as well as Gonzaga College High School’s Finance Committee and was once a national board member and president of the FPA.
