Derec serves as a Wealth Manager, working directly with his clients to create and maintain a customized financial plan addressing all aspects of a healthy financial life, including investments, tax planning, risk management, retirement, employee benefits and estate planning.
With nearly a decade of experience in the financial services industry, Derec creates comprehensive financial plans and tailored investment strategies for his clients. Prior to joining Creative Planning, he was a financial advisor at a national investment advisory firm.

Derec earned a Bachelor of Science degree in personal finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Derec is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, as designated by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and maintains the Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist℠ designation from the College of Financial Planning.

Derec and his fiancée, Alexis, live in Madison, Wisconsin, with their golden retriever, Finley. They enjoy spending time outdoors, attending sporting events and traveling.
