About Us

Creative Planning is a nationally recognized independent Registered Investment Advisor (“RIA”) headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. We manage more than $90 billion in assets (as of June 30, 2021) and have clients in all 50 states and abroad. We have been in business for more than 30 years and employ more than 850 individuals.

As an independent RIA, Creative Planning conducts its business as a fiduciary, which is the highest standard of conduct for a financial advisor. At the core of our business is comprehensive financial planning and wealth management.

Our approach to wealth management centers on understanding clients’ goals, future income needs and the significance of their assets and income including social security, pensions, real estate and more. Because taxes play a significant part in wealth accumulation, we will take a comprehensive approach on assessing its expected impact on all clients’ assets, for today and in the future.

Creative Planning’s Team Approach

Creative Planning coordinates financial planning, investment management, estate planning and risk management for clients to deliver comprehensive services with a holistic perspective. We have the ability to deliver all these services in-house, but do not require clients to use them if they prefer. We deliver a team of credentialed, educated, experienced and action-oriented advisors, including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioners (CFP®), certified public accountants, insurance specialists, attorneys and other professionals dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.

Customized Financial Plan

We construct the investment portfolio for clients to account for their current financial situation, risk tolerances and long-term goals as well as any unique circumstances. We employ a comprehensive, goal-based approach to portfolio construction and management.

Our Process

Initial Meeting

Children’s Mercy Hospital employees’ relationship with Creative Planning will begin with a Start Meeting. This meeting includes the employee and relevant family members, as well as the assigned wealth manager and financial planner. The purpose is to understand the employee’s current financial situation and goals. We will then assess where you are financially, relative to where you want to go.

Second Meeting

Based on the information and findings of the Start Meeting, we will follow up with a Recommendations Meeting. In this meeting, taking into account all facets of your compensation and benefits including outside investments and business interests, we will construct your investment portfolio and asset allocation incorporating retirement planning, asset protection planning, estate planning and tax planning objectives.

The Dashboard is a tool we use to measure employees’ progress toward their goals. A multidisciplinary team will provide a summary of employees’ accomplishments toward their goal. Creative Planning will keep employees apprised of developments and required actions.

Annual Review

Once per year, the multidisciplinary team will meet with you to review your goals, achievements and update the Dashboard. The team will also be in contact throughout the year to provide educational information, regulatory change updates and address questions as needed.

Meet a Few of Our Specialists

The employee’s principal point of contact will be with the assigned wealth manager. The wealth manager will be an experienced professional who understands the Children’s Mercy Benefits Program and helps create a customized investment strategy based on the employee’s goals. The wealth manger will collaborate when necessary with other team member specialists to implement elements of the employee’s financial plan.
